John and Tom Power lived in a remote cabin in the Galiuro Mountains of Arizona with their father, Thomas J. Power. Graham County Sheriff Robert McBride, deputies Martin Kempton and Kane Wootan, and U.S. Deputy Marshal Frank Hayes attempted to arrest the sons for draft evasion during World War I.
